Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Egleston was able to place her on ECMO assistance for lifesaving treatments. The patient became sick, and had kidney failure and organ failure that did not recover. Her life became a new regimen of hemodialysis, followed by the peritoneal dilation. Her return home was finally made after eighteen days in hospital, after a time when she was near death to the lengthy road to good health. Life was forever altered. Angelica had been in dialysis for nearly a year before finally being able to undergo the most important operation of her existence, a kidney transplant. It was her own mother who would donate the kidney. Angelica as well as her mom underwent an operation that was successful on September 13, 2013.
